Apple Pay likely to be compatible with Chrome, Edge, and Firefox soon

Steve Moser, a contributor to MacRumors, discovered that Apple Pay functions with Edge and Chrome in iOS 16 beta 4, and he tweeted about his discovery.

Digital Desk: With the release of the iOS 16 beta 4, Apple Pay may finally work with the Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox web browsers. MacRumors contributor Steve Moser discovered that Apple Pay works with the Edge and Chrome web browsers in the most recent iOS 16 beta 4 versions.

On Twitter, he posted a screenshot of his research showing the "Continue with Apple Pay" button on the Apple checkout page when using the Edge browser. Apple Pay only functions in Safari on iOS 15 and earlier versions at this time. According to The Verge, using Apply Pay prevents you from using any other web browser.

"Apple Pay is functional in Edge, Chrome, and I assume any other third-party browser on the most recent iOS 16 betas. Apple Pay is only compatible with Safari on iOS 15; "He used the screenshots posted on his Twitter account to write.

Since Edge and Chrome on iOS use Safari's render engine, he continued, "This doesn't work in Edge or Chrome on the latest macOS beta because I assume it requires the third party render engines to be updated."

Although Moser left out Firefox from his post, other users had already noticed that it was compatible with Apple Pay before iOS 16 beta 4. A Reddit post from earlier this month demonstrated an Apple Pay payment option in iOS 16 beta 2 when using Firefox.

The most recent macOS beta still lacks Apple Pay, according to Moser. According to The Verge, third-party browsers on macOS are free to use their own search engines, so there may not be Apple Pay support for browsers other than Safari.

This may have happened because the Digital Markets Act, which will impose specific rules and regulations on businesses like Apple, Meta, and Google starting in the spring of 2023, is about to go into effect.
