Google stated that around 300 million people speak these newly added languages, such as Mizo, which around 800,000 people speak in India's far northeast.
Digital Desk: As real-time translation tools to break down language barriers, Google expands Google Translate to include 24 new languages, bringing the total number of languages supported to 133. Eight of the new 24 entries are indigenous to India.
The soon to be added eight languages are:
Assamese, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Meiteilon (Manipuri), Mizo, and Sanskrit are joining google translate soon.
Google Translate usage:
Google Translate can be accessed using a web browser or downloaded from the Google Play Store. When using text translation, the user must choose the language they are typing. A camera is also available for capturing photographs, scanning text, and retrieving images for translation.
Google adds indigenous languages of the Americas and Sierra Leonean Krio to Translate. Mizo, Lingala, Quechua, Guarani and Aymara are added for the first time. Google says over 300 million people speak these newly added languages.
