With End-Stage Kidney Disease 4-Year-Old Boy Sworn In As Police Officer For A Day

Digital Desk: A 4-year-old boy, Stone Hicks, battling end-stage kidney disease, had his dream fulfilled as he was sworn in as a police officer for a day in Orlando. Despite his health challenges, Stone served at the police station on April 24, actively participating in two cases assigned to him.

Videos capturing Officer Stone in action, patrolling in his police car and aiding citizens, circulated online after being shared by the Orlando Police. Proud of their young recruit, the department expressed gratitude for Stone's bravery and inspiration to the community.

Dressed in his uniform, Stone and his team tackled his assigned cases with determination. He successfully reunited a lost puppy with its owner and apprehended a suspect who had stolen a jersey.

On X, the Orlando Police Department tweeted a photo of the young officer with the statement, "Stone, thank YOU for your courage, not only in helping us today solve crime, but also being an inspiration to the entire community."

The collaboration between the Orlando Police and the Make-a-Wish Foundation made Stone's day as a police officer possible, supporting him and his family in realising his dream despite his health struggles.
