Digital Desk: A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Indonesia's North Maluku province on Monday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said. The Indonesian Geological Agency, however, assessed the quake's magnitude at 5.9 and stated that there is no threat of a tsunami.

The earthquake's epicenter was located 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) northeast of Jailolo city in North Maluku, with a depth of 168 kilometers (104 miles), as reported by the agency.

Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damages or casualties resulting from the earthquake.

Indonesia, known for its susceptibility to seismic activity, straddles the "Pacific Ring of Fire," an area characterized by high tectonic plate movement and frequent earthquakes.
