Digital Desk: On Tuesday, at least seven people were slain in separate shootings in the California city of Half Moon Bay. This was the state's second mass shooting in three days.

According to US media reports, the killings injured Chinese farmworkers, and the culprit has been identified as 67-year-old farmworker Zhao Chunli. He shot his coworkers and then fled the scene.

"The suspect has been apprehended. At this moment, there is no ongoing threat to the community "San Mateo County Sheriff said in a tweet.

The gunman was apprehended after being discovered in his vehicle in the parking area of the Half Moon Bay substation, according to the sheriff's office. He was apprehended without incident, and a weapon was discovered in his car.

A video of his detention showed authorities putting Zhao Chunli (in a red shirt) to the ground before arresting him.

The precise locations of the shootings have yet to be established, and the motive for the shooting is being investigated.

This comes only days after a 72-year-old man murdered ten people at a Chinese New Year celebration in Monterey Park, California. Police followed him to a van and encircled it. A gunshot was heard as the officers approached the vehicle.

"The suspect died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said.
