Islamist militants attack Pak's Air Force Training Base in Punjab province; 9 Terrorists killed & 3 Aircraft Damaged

Digital Desk: The army said nine heavily armed terrorists attacked a Pakistan Air Force training base in Punjab province early this morning, a day after 17 troops were murdered in three separate terror attacks across the country.

The Pakistan Air Force's Mianwali Training Air Base was assaulted by nine terrorists, the Pakistan Army claimed in a statement, admitting that three already phased-out non-operational aircraft were damaged during the incident.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan said that the "combing and clearance operation at PAF Training Airbase Mianwali has been concluded and all nine terrorists have been sent to hell."

In a statement to the media, the Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a recently formed terror group affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to the statement, the operation was undertaken to "eliminate any potential threat in the surrounding area following the cowardly and failed terrorist attack on the base this morning."

The Pakistan army stated that while no damage was done to any of the PAF's operating assets, the attack did cause some damage to three already phased-out non-operational aircraft.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar condemned the incident, saying, "Any attempt to undermine our security will meet with unwavering resistance."

Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that the names of the terrorists participating in the attacks on Friday and Saturday "must have been different, but the enemy behind the scenes is the same."

He called the current wave of terrorism a "conspiracy to re-establish Pakistan as a target of uncertainty and instability."

Pakistan has seen an increase in bloodshed since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021.
