    Lahore police book 400 people for harassing, molesting Pakistani female YouTuber

    Lahore: In the case linked with the molestation of a female Pakistani YouTuber on the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day at the historic Minar-i-Pakistan, 400 people have been arrested by the Lahore police report said.






    After the video of the molestation went viral on social media with calls from Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to take action against the culprits, the police took action regarding the case.






    The incident took place on August 14, when people celebrated Independence Day at Azadi Chowk near Minari-i-Pakistan in Lahore.






    In the viral video, hundreds of men can be seen surrounding the girl, throwing her up in the air for fun, dragging her, tearing her clothes. The men didn’t stop in their only; they even took off her trouser and molested her publically.






    Police said to PTI, “Following the viral video on Tuesday, the police meet the girl on the order of high command and convince her to register an FIR against the culprits.”






    The FIR by the girl stated that she and the other six members of her YouTube channel visited Azadi Chowk to record a video clip of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebration.






    The girl stated, “When we are shooting the clip for my YouTube channel, a big number of youngsters started teasing me. They were joined by more and more. Seeing the culprits molesting me, the security guard of the Minar-i-Pakistan opened the gate, but they came after me.”






    “They tore my clothes and molested me. Then, they dragged me and tossed me up in the air. They also beat my team members, using abusive language.” added the girl.






    “The molestation continued for an hour before some people finally rescue me from the culprits.” said the girl.






    Moreover, the girl claimed that during the molestation incident, her cell phone, a gold ring and cash worth PKR 150,000 were taken from her by the culprits.
