Russia-Ukraine Crises: Another Indian Student shot in Kyiv, Hospitalized

"A student from Kyiv was reported to have been shot and was taken to a Kyiv hospital right afterward," Union Minister General VK Singh said.

Digital Desk: An Indian student in Ukraine's capital Kyiv has been hospitalized after being shot with a bullet, ANI reports said.

According to Union Minister General Vijay Kumar Singh, the Indian Embassy has been in  contact with the students and has recommended all to evacuate the war-torn country immediately.

Gen. VK Singh, who is now in Poland to assist with the evacuation of Indians stranded in war-torn Ukraine, said the government is working to ensure that the largest number of students may be evacuated with the least amount of loss feasible.

"A student from Kyiv was reported to have been shot and was taken to a Kyiv hospital right afterward. The Indian embassy had previously stated that everyone should leave Kyiv as soon as possible. The pistol bullet does not consider anyone's religion or nationality in the case of a battle," General VK Singh said.

Earlier, an Indian student was killed by Russian shelling in Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv. Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar, a Karnataka native, was recognized as the deceased student. He was a student of MBBS. On Tuesday morning, he was killed in a missile attack targeting the state government building in Kharkiv.

Moreover, Chandan Jindal, a Punjabi student who was hospitalized in Ukraine last month, died on Wednesday. The 22-year-old was enrolled at the National Pirogov Memorial Medical University.

As the Ukrainian airspace has been closed since February 24 due to the Russian military offensive, India has begun evacuating its citizens via special aircraft from Ukraine's western neighbours, Romania, Hungary, and Poland.
