Digital Desk: The Islamabad High Court has suspended Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former Pakistan prime minister’s prison sentence in the Toshakhana case and ordered his release, Geo News reported on Tuesday. After being found guilty in the case by a trial court, Khan was sentenced to prison on August 5.

The trial court had also imposed a fine of PKR 1,00,000 on him. In finding Imran Khan guilty of corrupt activities under Section 174 of the Election Act, the court hearing the case stated, "Imran Khan deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP."

Imran Khan's inability to disclose the income from the sale of state gifts while serving as Pakistan's prime minister is the subject of the Toshakhana reference case. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruled on the case on October 21, 2022, and after finding Khan guilty of wrongdoing, prohibited him from holding any public office for a term of five years.
