Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump on Monday issued a final warning to Hamas, a militant Palestinian nationalist and Sunni Islamist movement, to release the remaining Israeli hostages by Saturday noon, or he would allow Israel to cancel the ongoing ceasefire.
After signing a slew of executive orders in Washington DC, President Trump spoke to reporters and remarked on the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
Trump said, "But as far as I'm concerned, if all of the hostages aren't returned by Saturday 12 o'clock I think it's an appropriate time I would say cancel it, and all bets are off and let hell break out."
He added, "I'm speaking for myself. Israel can override it."
In a statement, a spokesperson of Hamas' armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam said that the next hostage release, scheduled on Saturday would be postponed until further notice. However, the ceasefire agreement said that the first phase of the hostage release should take place within 42 days.
