The Panama-flagged crude oil tanker, carrying 30 crew members, including 22 Indians, found itself in grave danger until the Navy's destroyer INS Kochi swiftly intervened.

Thanks to the decisive action of the Indian Navy, all crew members, including those from India, were safely rescued from the perilous situation. The INS Kochi, on a crucial mission in the area, promptly responded to the distress call and ensured the crew's safety amidst the chaos of the attack.

"A mission-deployed Indian Naval destroyer INS Kochi responded to a maritime security incident involving the attack on Panama-flagged crude oil tanker MV Andromeda Star on April 26," the Indian Navy said, as quoted by the Hindustan Times.

This incident underscores the critical role of maritime security, especially in regions prone to such threats. The Indian Navy's timely and effective response highlights its commitment to safeguarding seafarers and maintaining stability in the region.

Reports indicate that the Houthi militants, backed by Iranian support, launched multiple missiles targeting not only the MV Andromeda Star but also another merchant vessel in the Red Sea. Such acts of aggression pose significant risks to maritime trade and underline the need for continued vigilance and collaborative efforts to counter such threats.
