Digital Desk: The ongoing investigation into the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a wanted Khalistani terrorist in India. Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar addressed the media regarding the latest developments, highlighting the arrest of a 22-year-old suspect named Amandeep Singh in Canada.
Jaishankar emphasised that India has not received any specific or substantial information from Canada to warrant an investigation by Indian agencies. On the 4th Indian arrested by Canadian authorities in Nijjar murder, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar says, "I also read that another arrest has been made...We have long maintained that if any event or violence in Canada has any evidence or information that is relevant to be investigated in India, we are open to investigating it. To date, we have never received anything specific or worthy of being investigated by our investigative agencies..." quoted by news agency ANI.
Three other Indian nationals were previously arrested for their alleged involvement in Nijjar's murder. The relationship between India and Canada has been strained following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's accusations of potential Indian involvement in Nijjar's killing, which India has dismissed as baseless.
