    Who is Nahid Islam?
There will be no room for pro-Indian and pro-Pakistani politics in Bangladesh.

Digital Desk: Young and talented Nahid Islam at 26 years has emerged  as one of the prominent leader  of Bangladesh’s most powerful emerging leaders after starting as a student activist before joining the nation’s political transformation.

Nahid conducted massive demonstrations against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while exiting Muhammad Yunus' interim administration because of his eventful political development.

The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) launch by Nahid Islam has brought national attention while he positions the new party to challenge traditional political parties in Bangladesh.

Born in 1998 Nahid Islam comes from Dhaka and is a student of  the Sociology Department at Dhaka University. During his early days at university in 2017 he participated in demonstrations targeting the construction of a Sundarbans bordering coal plant which threatened the mangrove forest near India.

At the beginning of 2019 he joined political life by contesting in university student elections and afterward co-established the Democratic Student Force to push for democratic system modifications.

Nahid achieved national recognition while leading student protests against the government job quota system from July to August 2024. Nahid became a prominent target for leading the protests which led intelligence services to arrest and harm him on  19th July 2024.

Nahid said that around 30 plainclothes officers stormed a friend’s house where he was hiding. His leadership of protests continued even though he endured terrorist kidnapping and torture but succeeded in contributing to Sheikh Hasina's government's downfall.

His time within and departure from the interim government stretched from 19th July  to 25th February 2025.
The newly established Muhammad Yunus government appointed Nahid as Information and Broadcasting Adviser following the forced departure of Prime Minister Hasina. Nahid held his position briefly because he stepped down on February 25, 2025 as people noticed his readiness to pursue political power.

“There will be no room for pro-Indian and pro-Pakistani politics in Bangladesh. We will build the state keeping Bangladesh’s interests first”. His message to supporters at a rally in Dhaka on Friday emphasized the building of a state that would benefit Bangladesh before everything else.

The political party operates under member secretary Akhtar Hossain using a leadership team of 11 people to fight against established political systems of Bangladesh.

Nahid shows signs of succeeding further in Bangladesh’s political realm despite his already profound influence. Nahid Islam faces an uncertain future in national politics yet it is evident he will keep his political presence strong for the coming times.
