World Cancer Day: Check out these 5 Indian spices that prevent cancer
Digital Desk: World Cancer Day is observed on February 4th to increase cancer awareness and support cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. The primary purpose of World Cancer Day is to drastically reduce cancer-related sickness and mortality.

Not every war is accompanied by a surge of violence, and not every combat ends in carnage.

When facing a tenacious foe like cancer, our arsenal should include a healthy lifestyle that includes frequent health check-ups and a diet that includes nutrients that act as anti-cancer agents.

When actress Lisa Ray was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a bone marrow illness that is quite uncommon, she only declared, "I'll fight cancer." We aim to develop diet approaches, especially in the selection of spices, that might prevent the growing of malignant cells in the body that eventually mature into insurmountable cancer cells, in the spirit of conquering a disease that is frequently labelled as "incurable."

When we went sobbing to our grandmothers with a bruise on our knee or an elbow wound, she would make us a glass of warm milk with saffron sprinkled on top in no time. Minor wounds were calmed, and all skin rashes were treated, thanks to the herbal turmeric paste. These tried-and-true culinary hacks are little more than gimmicks. Spices like turmeric and saffron include therapeutic characteristics that, when added to our diet from a young age, help to protect our bodies from toxins, germs, and viruses.

5 Indian spices that prevent cancer:

Turmeric/Curcumin: This spice is the king of spices when it comes to fighting cancer. It also adds a spicy colour to our meals on the plate. Turmeric includes the strong polyphenol Curcumin, which has been clinically proven to slow growth of cancer cells that cause prostate cancer, melanoma, breast cancer, brain tumors, pancreatic cancer, and leukaemia, among many other factors diseases.

Fennel: When cancer cells are armed with phytonutrients and antioxidants, they have no choice but to surrender when the spice is fennel. Fennel's main ingredient, 'anethole,' resists and inhibits cancer cells' sticky and invasive actions. It inhibits the enzymatically controlled actions that lead to cancer cell proliferation.

Cumin: Yes, cumin improves digestion, which is perhaps why we like chewing a handful of cumin seeds at the conclusion of each meal. Its health advantages, however, go beyond that. Cumin seeds, an anti-oxidant plant, contain a chemical called 'Thymoquinone,' which inhibits the development of cells that cause prostate cancer.

Capsaicin/Cayenne Pepper (Chilli Peppers): Chilli peppers are a promising spice with anti-cancer effects, but an excess should be avoided. Capsaicin causes apoptosis, which kills potential cancer cells and shrinks the growth of leukemia tumour cells significantly.

Ginger: This modest spice has therapeutic properties that aid in reducing cholesterol, increasing metabolism, and the killing of cancer cells. Ginger is a flavour enhancer that may be easily used to vegetable meals, seafood preparations, and salads. If the odour bothers you, chew on fresh parsley.

This World Cancer Day, let's take a pledge to take care of our health.
