Digital Desk: Diabetes is a health condition in which a high level of glucose is present in the bloodstream. This happens because the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not respond properly to insulin. Diabetes can affect both adults and children. Diabetes is a condition that cannot be easily reversed but can be managed.
Diabetes in kids is common in families that have a history of diabetes in the blood. But how can you tell if your child has diabetes? Are the symptoms of diabetes in children the same as those in adults? Is it possible to completely treat diabetes in children? Here is everything you need to know.
Diabetes in Kids: Symptoms And Warning Signs
Diabetes is a common health problem all over the world. Diabetes can affect people of any age. The most common warning sign of getting this disease in your child is to identify if someone in your family or your partner’s family already has diabetes. The family blood chain is important in remaining cautious when safeguarding your child from diabetes.
Additionally, most of the symptoms of diabetes in children are the same as those in adults.
1. Extreme thirst: A diabetic patient will have regular urges to drink water throughout the year. The feeling of being unable to satiate your thirst 100 times in a day is difficult to manage and if your kid is also experiencing an unusual pattern with water drinking, that’s an alarm.
2. Blurred vision: If your child is having trouble seeing properly, it could be an indication of diabetes and not just from watching too much TV or studying too much.
3. Frequent urination or bed-wetting: One of the most prominent signs of diabetes in people of all ages is this. If your child is regularly going to the toilet, this could be an indication of a high blood sugar level.
4. Increased hunger: Children do not have a pattern of eating, but if you see a sudden rise in your child's hunger despite his or her usual schedule of activity, you should think about getting a diabetes test done.
5. Skin rash or eczema: Most diabetes patients have some kind of skin issue, such as a rash, flaky skin, dry eczema, tiny red lumps, or a darker region of skin that feels like velvet, generally around the neck, armpit, or groin. If you notice a skin condition that is unexplained and does not improve with home cures, it's time to see a doctor to get to the bottom of the issue.
Even minor changes in your diet and exercise routine can have a significant impact on your child's health. In most cases which are not extreme, diabetes gets controlled by tweaking the lifestyle. Even in severe cases, medications are available to help your child's body control diabetes. Don't panic. Stay Healthy!
