The very fact that we are all born into different circumstances should have made it crystal clear that we are not completely in control of our lives…
Digital Desk: When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade, isn’t it?
But not before brooding upon it, feeling the hurt, the sense of loss and betrayal.
It is a superpower to pick ourselves up promptly after every setback.
For those that are adept at it, they get the best out of the school of life.
Their lives flower in often unforeseen ways, and they also light the way for others.
For most of us though, tunnel vision ruins the beauty of our time on earth.
We are too focused on outcomes, the final destination, to ever enjoy the journey, with all its inconveniences, and attractions.
We demand that life be fair, while being blindingly unaware that what’s fair is not even visible to us from our limited perspective.
The very fact that we are all born into different circumstances should have made it crystal clear that we are not completely in control of our life. We may alter our situation through our efforts, but that’s only after attaining an age of maturity. We cannot contest others having a head start over us in life. So, what does that say about life being fair, at least from the perspective of one lifetime?
Accepting the broad framework of destiny can free us of a large amount of heartache. It can save us lots of time that we would spend ruing our fate.
That acceptance can set us free for unfettered action.
Because as humans, we have free will to alter our condition through action.
Taking responsibility for the state we find ourselves in, we can chart out a course of action for the best outcomes.
Yet at all times, we need to remember the hand of fate. Just like the momentous occasion of our birth, there are too many factors outside the pale of our influence.
A balanced approach of hard work, with strong will and determination, sprinkled with an acceptance of an over-riding fate, is the best approach for us to live life in a fulfilled way.
