Digital Desk: The first month of the year is drawing to a close.
We are all still into the frenzied newness drive that seeks to make every year better than the one that went before.
This yearning for improvement, for evolution, keeps us interested in the game of life.
If yesterday was to repeat itself, stagnancy would fester.
So, hang on to the resolutions you made at the beginning of the new year, and let each day see you strive to be better in every way.
It isn’t only about macro goals.
The long-term goals stand, yet it is the micro developments each day that add up to a significant mass of change, and seamlessly unveil newer versions of us, newer and better realities.
There are going to be critics of new years’ resolutions, arguing what’s so special about a turn in the Gregorian calendar?
Rather let’s stick to our indigenous dates and calendars.
But such arguments contest this idea only in letter.
It doesn’t matter that we choose January, or April or any random month as the beginning of a yearly cycle. January is helpful as a reference point, giving us a time in the collective consciousness of the contemporary times, to measure progress.
The moot point is that we fix a schedule, a time-bound system, to gauge our achievements, learn from our mistakes and visualise the future.
For those who made resolutions for better health, wealth and happiness at the turn of 2025, here’s a word of encouragement to stick to those goals, take stock of the hits and misses, and carry on with complete vigour!
