Liquor prices may increase to compensate VAT reduction on fuel

Guwahati: To compensate the loss from value-added tax (VAT) reduction on petrol and diesel, the Assam government is likely to increase excise duty of liquor, sources claimed.

Earlier, the Assam government has reduced VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 7 per liter with immediate effect on November 3.
