    3 Srilankan Cricketers banned for a year, fined Rs 37 lakh for not following Covid-19 protocol in UK

    Not following Covid-19 rules can be harmful for both oneself and others, three cricketers of Sri Lanka have been banned for a year and also been fined 10 million Sri Lankan Rupees. Cricketer Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, and Danushka Gunathilaka have been banned by Sri Lanka cricket for one year from all forms of international cricket and for six months from domestic cricket and also been fined a huge amount of (37 Lakhs in Indian currency). The decision has been taken because the cricketers had breached the Covid-19 restrictions in England.






    A five-member committee was formed to look upon the matter and take disciplinary actions against the trio. The trio happens to be the important members of the team, vice-captain Kusal Mendis, wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka. They were seen roaming on the streets of Durham during their tour to England and their videos and images had gone viral on social media, not adhering to the necessary protocols of Covid-19. The cricket on-lookers had expressed their disappointment at the irresponsible act of the players.
