Digital Desk: A DTC cluster bus lost control and collided with five vehicles in Delhi's New Friends Colony neighbourhood, injuring five people and killing one, police said on Wednesday.
A bus travelling from Nehru Place to Maharani Bagh lost control and collided with several vehicles at around 4:45 in the afternoon, resulting in one fatality and five injuries, including two that were severely injured. It has not yet been determined who the deceased person was.
A police squad was sent to the scene after receiving a PCR call about the accident, according to a senior police official.
Eyewitnesses reported that the cluster bus lost control and rammed into vehicles that were unknowingly caught in its path, causing havoc on the road.
A Waggon R cab, one three-wheeler, and a scooter that took the brunt of the incident suffered extremely severe injuries.
The three-wheeler driver was declared brought dead at the Holy family hospital.
Mohammad Sakid, the scooter rider, had to have one of his legs amputated; two other injured people, Sjadul Islam (a medical professional) and Kalimuddin are receiving care.
To find the bus driver who escaped the scene of the collision, the police have initiated an investigation.
"The accident's cause has not yet been determined. The officer stated that a case under the appropriate IPC sections has been lodged at the New Friends Colony police station. The police are trying to determine whether it was the driver's fault or there was some technical glitch leading to the accident," the officer said.
