    10 Dead as bus carrying pilgrims to Vaishno Devi crashes into Jammu Gorge

    people died this morning when an overcrowded bus bringing pilgrims to the
    Vaishno Devi temple went off a bridge and crashed into a canyon in Jammu and
    Kashmir, according to authorities. As many as 55 people were hurt and sent to
    the hospital. Some of them have been reported to be badly injured.




    color:#2E2E2E">The bus was travelling from Amritsar when the accident occurred
    on the Jammu-Srinagar national route, at Jhajjar Kotli in Reasi district, near
    Katra. Katra is the starting point for Vaishno Devi pilgrims.



    According to officials,
    the majority of the passengers were from Bihar and were visiting the temple for
    a ceremony.

    injured have been sent to a hospital. Locals, in addition to police and central
    forces, assisted in the rescue operation," said Chandan Kohli, Senior
    Superintendent of Police, Jammu.

    investigated until the cause of the disaster is determined.

    Police, "overspeeding could be the cause of the accident," and an

    College.

    Droupadi Murmu expressed his condolences for the deceased and wished the
    injured a swift recovery.
