A gas leak at a factory in Ludhiana's Giaspura district left 11 people dead...
Digital Desk: On Sunday, 11 people were murdered and 11 more were injured in a gas leak at a plant in Punjab's Ludhiana. The accident occurred in the Giaspura neighbourhood.
Six men and five women were killed. They have been identified as Sourav (35), Varsha (35), Aryan (10), Chulu (16), Abhay (13), Kalpesh (40), unknown female (40), unknown female (25), unknown male (25), Neetu Devi, and Navneet Kumar.
According to authorities, the injured were brought to a hospital. It is unknown till now what triggered the gas leak.
A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is on the scene to assist with the rescue effort.
"It is undeniably a gas leak case." The NDRF crew is on the scene to evacuate individuals and execute the rescue operation. "Nine people were killed and 11 were injured in this incident," Swati, SDM, Ludhiana West, informed ANI.
The NDRF has dispatched a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) team of 35 professionals in dealing with gas leak occurrences.
"The area is being isolated, and the source of the gas is being identified," NDRF Inspector General (IG) Narendra Bundela stated.
Police have cordoned off the area and are on the scene. Fire personnel are also on the scene.
As per reports, the Police have also deployed a team of physicians and ambulances.
On Twitter, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann described the occurrence as "sad" and stated that all available assistance is being provided.
"The gas leak incident in the factory in the Giaspura area of Ludhiana is very sad." There are police, administration, and NDRF teams on the scene. "Every possible assistance is being provided," Mann wrote in his twitter post in Punjabi.
