    12 killed as speeding truck rams into crowd in Bihar's Vaishali
    The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar also sent his condolences and said the incident had left him "deeply saddened." The chief minister granted orders to provide the relatives of the deceased an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 5 lakh. 

    Digital Desk: At least 12 people, including several children, were killed In the Vaishali region of Bihar on Sunday when a speeding truck smashed into a crowd. Mehnar hamlet in the Vaishali district is where the accident happened.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the surviving family members of the deceased and a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the injured following the accident.



    The prime minister also wished everyone hurt in the collision a quick recovery.

    The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar also sent his condolences and said the incident had left him "deeply saddened." The chief minister granted orders to provide the relatives of the deceased an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 5 lakh. Additionally, he requested that all relevant authorities treat all injured people properly and prayed for their quick recovery.



    His deputy Tejashwi Yadav also took to Twitter and said, "May God give peace to the departed souls and strength to their families to bear this loss."



    Moreover, President Droupadi Murmu called the accident "extremely painful" and wished for a speedy recovery for the injured.



    Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in this road accident.

    It is to be noted that police have detained the driver and helper of the truck. Vaishali SP said whether the driver was drunk or not would be ascertained only after a medical examination.
