9 police vans failed to apprehend the car that dragged a woman for 13 kilometres: Sources

According to sources, there were five PCR vans on the route, about six calls were placed to the police emergency line, and witness Deepak Dahiya made more than 20 calls to the police after spotting the car with a body stuck under it.

Digital Desk: In the horrific death of a 20-year-old Delhi woman dragged by a
car for over an hour on January 1, more evidence suggests that the drivers of
the car were aware that she was caught in the axle but continued driving
anyhow, crushing her in the most horrifying way possible.

    Nine Police
Control Room (PCR) vans allegedly trailed the car but were unable to stop it,
    according to sources.

Anjali Singh, returning home from a New Year's party on her
scooter with a friend, was hit by the car at around 2 am. Her leg was caught in
a wheel, and she was dragged for 13 km by the car that took multiple turns to
    try and detach the body.

    The friend of
Anjali who was riding the scooter with her, Nidhi, told the police that the car
driver "deliberately" ran over her as she was screaming in pain but
departed the scene without alerting anyone.

    According to
sources, there were five PCR vans on the route, about six calls were placed to
the police emergency line, and witness Deepak Dahiya made more than 20 calls to
the police after spotting the car with a body stuck under it.

    Nine police
vans were sent out to seek for the car, but none were able to locate it.

At 2.18 am, the police first got a call about an accident. At
2.20 am, another call was received, according to sources.

    Around 3.24
a.m., the witness made two phone calls and reported seeing a car travelling
    with a body underneath.

    At around 4.26
and 4.27 a.m., police received a call from a man reporting a woman's body on
    the road.

    According to
sources, nine police vans on the road were unable to locate either the vehicle
or the body due to "poor visibility" in fog.

According to sources, the five occupants of the automobile were
also aware that a woman had been hit and was trapped in the engine. According
to the sources, they continued driving forward and reversing with the intent of
    crushing or shaking her off.

    After around
two and a half kilometres, the accused males noticed the woman's arm under the
    wheels but did not stop.

    "They had
discovered that something was lodged beneath. They noticed her hand poking out
the window when they looked out. They hurried up when they saw a police cruiser
and dragged the woman with them "According to sources.

    According to
sources, the automobile made "more than four u-turns" to try to
    dislodge the body.

    Anjali Singh's
body was discovered with her garments torn and her flesh scraped away.

Her ribs were exposed from her back, the base of her skull was
fractured, and some "brain tissue was gone," according to an autopsy
    report.

    Her
skull, spine, and lower limbs were all injured. Her death was caused by
"shock and haemorrhage," and the injuries may have contributed to her
    death.
