Digital Desk: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, declared on Saturday that the Central government would be bringing three new legislation that would fundamentally alter the nation's criminal justice system. He said this while honoring police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty at the National Police Memorial in the nation's capital on National Police Memorial Day.
In his address at the ceremony, Shah emphasized the critical part that the police force plays in upholding both internal and border security. He praised the commitment of police personnel who relentlessly defend law and order in all circumstances, including bad weather and on holidays. He complimented the police's unwavering dedication to tackling problems like terrorism, criminality, and crowd control while preserving the safety of the general public.
Shah also covered the three new criminal laws that will replace the current ones, highlighting the fact that they will both uphold the spirit of the Indian Constitution and reflect the very best of Indian culture. He expressed optimism that the government will soon succeed in reforming the criminal justice system.
The Home Minister emphasized the impending "Amrit Kaal," which will mark the time from the 76th year of independence till the centenary of independence, as declared by the Prime Minister. He said that with the dedication of all 130 crore individuals, now is the time for the country to work toward a top position in the world.
Shah also emphasized the dramatic decline in terrorism, militancy, and naxal attacks over the previous year, which he credited to the police force's committed efforts.
He said that while upholding a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism, the police had managed to keep things normal in Jammu and Kashmir, the North East states, and other places hit by leftist extremism. To increase the police force's efficacy in thwarting terrorism, the government has enacted strict legislation and launched the Police Technology Mission.
Every year, on October 21, "Police Commemoration Day," is observed annually to honor the memory of ten brave members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who lost their lives in an ambush by heavily armed Chinese troops in Hot Springs, Ladakh, on October 21, 1959. For all of the nation's police personnel, the National Police Memorial, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the country on Police Commemoration Day in 2018, serves as a symbol of national identity, pride, unification, shared history, and destiny.
