Digital Desk: N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was sent to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with an alleged scam involving the Skill Development Corporation.

Judge Himabindu of the Vijayawada ACB court read its judgment regarding the former Chief Minister in connection with the case.

The judge recommended that Chandrababu Naidu be taken to Rajahmundry Central Jail and ordered his confinement to judicial custody for 14 days.

In connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam that took place earlier in the day, the former CM was brought before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada.

He was brought before the court within 24 hours after his detention, according to the officials. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh arrested Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday.

The issue involves the establishment of Centers of Excellence (CoE) clusters in Andhra Pradesh for Rs 3,300 crores, according to officials.

Over Rs 300 crores worth of damage has been done to the state government as a result of the fraud.

According to the CID, the probe has revealed severe anomalies, such as the fact that the previous state government gave an advance of Rs 371 crores—the whole 10% promise by the government—before any expenditure by private firms.

According to CID officials, the majority of the funds given by the government were fraudulently transferred to shell businesses through invoices, with no actual delivery or sale of the goods listed on the invoices.

According to the CID's remand report, the investigation has shown that the whole sum spent by private organizations on six skill development clusters was entirely financed by money granted by the Government of AP and the AP Skill Development Center, totalling Rs 371 crores.
