BHU Professor superimposes himself as Ram and wife as Sita, students enraged
Digital Desk: BHU Professor Amresh Kumar has sparked a massive controversy by superimposing his image on a painting of Lord Ram and his wife's face on a portrait of Goddess Sita. The artwork was exhibited at a visual arts exhibition held at BHU.

Amresh Kumar, an assistant professor of Visual Arts at Banaras Hindu University, has been identified as the assistant professor in issue.

Several BHU students have voiced outrage over the event and have called for Kumar to be charged for inciting religious sensitivities.

The show was organised by Banaras Hindu University's Faculty of Visual Arts.

While the University administration has yet to respond to the situation, the assistant professor justified himself, claiming that it is not a huge thing because Lord Ram belongs to everyone. IANS cited him as saying.

The enraged students have requested the BHU management to take action against Kumar as soon as possible, or else they would stage a demonstration.

The BHU professor rationalised his actions by claiming that he and his family are ardent worshippers of Lord Ram.
