Digital Desk: Keeping aside their political rivalry, Congress and BJP leaders on Sunday gathered at the scenic Dharamshala stadium to watch the Cricket World Cup match between India and New Zealand.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a leader in the Congress and the state's chief minister, state Industries Minister Harshvardhan, BJP National President J P Nadda, and Jai Ram Thakur, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, joined BJP leader and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur.
Dr. Rajiv Bindal, the president of the Himachal Pradesh BJP, and several other Congress legislators also watched the match live from the field.
Sukhu was seen sitting between J P Nadda and Anurag Thakur. The chief minister was seen holding Anurag Thakur's hand while the leaders were snapped sitting together in the VVIP stands.
Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Arun Dhumal, the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Raghubir Singh Bali, the CEO of the Himachal Pradesh State Tourism Corporation, were also present.
The chief minister praised the stunning surroundings of the stadium and declared, "This event is a testament to our nation's fervor for the sport."
However, India had a rare ordinary day on the field as they missed three catches. Although Kuldeep Yadav (2/73) was the most expensive bowler, he managed to get the crucial wickets of Glenn Phillips and Tom Lathan.
Before India pacer Mohammed Shami lit up with a five-wicket haul in his debut World Cup match to limit New Zealand to 273 all out here on Sunday, Daryl Mitchell scored a brave century.
