    BJP tops among the richest party in 2019-2020: ADR Report
    Digital Desk: According to the election reforms advocacy group, Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tops the richest parties list 2019-2020.

    The report stated that the BJP claimed assets worth ₹ 4,847.78 crores in 2019-20. This asset is the highest among all political parties. Congress is not the party that follows BJP among the wealthiest classes.

    Instead, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) followed BJP in the richest party list with the asset at ₹ 698.33 crores and the Congress at ₹ 588.16 crores.

    The ADR prepared its report established on its analysis of assets and liabilities of national and regional parties in 2019-20.

    According to the study, the absolute assets reported by the seven national and 44 regional parties throughout the financial year were calculated to stand at ₹ 6,988.57 crores and ₹ 2,129.38 crores, respectively.

    Out of these seven national parties, the highest assets were proclaimed by the BJP (Rs 4847.78 crore or 69.37 % ). BJP is followed by the BSP (Rs 698.33 crore or 9.99 % ) and the Congress (588.16 crores or 8.42 % ).

    The ADR report further added that out of the 44 regional parties, the assets of the top 10 parties were worth ₹ 2028.715 crores or 95.27 % of the aggregate reported by them all merged.

    The total liabilities reported by the seven national and 44 regional parties for the financial year 2019-20 amount to ₹ 134.93 crores.

    The ADR report noted, "The National Political Parties represented the total liabilities of ₹ 74.27 crores in FY 2019-20. National Parties declared ₹ 4.26 crore under Borrowings and ₹ 70.01 cr under Other Liabilities. In the FY 2019-20, Congress declared the highest total liabilities of ₹ 49.55 crores (66.72 per cent), followed by AITC that declared ₹ 11.32 crore (15.24 per cent)."

    Moreover, the regional political parties declared accumulative liabilities of ₹ 60.66 crores in FY 2019-20.
