New Delhi: Chief Justice NV Ramana affirms CBI and other investigation agencies don’t respond when lower court judges complain about life threats. The statement comes after the Apex court took up a recent murder case of the Jharkhand district judge.
Criticizing, the investigation agency Chief Justice said, “They don’t help out at all, when judges complain. CBI has done nothing; it should change its attitude.”
The Chief Justice asserted, there is a custom to slander the judiciary system when favourable orders were not passed in high profile cases.
“In high profile cases of gangster, murders, abusive messages on Whatsapp and Facebook are sent to judges to mentally exasperate them.” said CJI.
Additionally, CJI stated upon judges complaints to the CBI and the intelligence agencies on a threat; they don’t even respond. “Our life is at stake; we need some security of our life.” added.
Recently, on July 28, the District Judge of Jharkhand Uttam Anand was killed when an auto rammed him while he was on a morning walk.
Earlier, it was believed to be a hit-and-run case, but CCTV footage that goes viral showed the auto straight aiming the Judge along a deserted road and intentionally hit him.
Reportedly, Judge Anand handled many cases, including mafia killings in Dhanbad and rejected bail requests from two gangsters. Additionally, Mr Anand was also hearing a case involving an MLA’s assistance.
Stressing about Mr Anand murder case, the CJI stated, “It is a miserable case of a young judge who lost his life at 49. Dhanbad is a coal mafia area, after knowing it the State government does nothing. The state didn’t provide security to the Judge.”
