Digital Desk: As the anticipation mounts for the highly awaited Chandrayaan 3 mission to achieve a successful landing on the Moon's surface, Rakesh Sharma, the pioneering Indian astronaut who became the first Indian to travel in space, has voiced his confidence in the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) capabilities. Speaking on Wednesday, Sharma shared his optimistic outlook for the mission's safe landing, citing ISRO's impressive track record and focused approach.

Sharma, who orbited aboard the Soyuz T-11 spacecraft on April 3, 1984, as part of the Soviet Interkosmos Program, expressed his pride in ISRO's accomplishments over the years despite limited resources. With the Chandrayaan 3 mission poised to mark another milestone in India's space exploration journey, Sharma conveyed his assurance that the landing would be executed safely and successfully.

"Space explorations do have their ups and downs, but we've remained focused in our approach, and knowing the way ISRO functions, I can proudly say that Chandrayaan 3 will have a safe landing. I look forward to a successful Moon landing," Sharma affirmed, reflecting on the resilience and determination that characterize ISRO's endeavors.

In an unprecedented collaboration between the scientific community and the entertainment industry, the live simulcast of the Chandrayaan-3 launch event, titled #countdowntohistory, will bring together prominent personalities from both fields. Joining Sharma in providing insights and commentary during the live simulcast are astronaut Sunita Williams, S Somanath (Chairman of ISRO), Srijan Pal Singh (CEO and Co-Founder of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre), Chris Hadfield (Former Commander of the International Space Station), and Ann Druyan (Creative Director of NASA's Voyager Interstellar Message and Emmy-winning writer).

The live event promises to offer viewers a comprehensive experience, combining cutting-edge 3D graphics, expert commentary from both Indian and international space authorities, and informative short films that shed light on the significance of the Chandrayaan 3 mission. The goal is to unite Indians across the globe and provide them with an immersive journey to witness history in the making.

Gaurav Banerjee, Head of Content at Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star, spoke about the intention behind the simulcast, emphasizing its potential to bring people together and celebrate India's accomplishments in space exploration. "With futuristic 3D graphics, uncharted access to the voices of experts from India and abroad, and short informative films, we want to unite Indians across the globe and take them on a memorable journey to #countdowntohistory together," Banerjee stated.

As the nation's attention remains fixated on the upcoming Chandrayaan 3 mission, the collaborative efforts between ISRO and media platforms like National Geographic Channel and Disney+ Hotstar are poised to not only celebrate India's achievements in space but also inspire a new generation to aspire to reach for the stars. With the collective optimism of esteemed personalities like Rakesh Sharma, the countdown to history continues, carrying the hopes of a nation and the excitement of a global audience.
