Char Dham Yatra: Kedarnath Dham to open for devotees on April 25

The high-altitude shrines are closed for about six months of the year, opening in the summer...

Digital Desk: The Kedarnath Dham's portals will open to all devotees on April 25, authorities said on Wednesday. The yatra is scheduled to start on April 25.

"Along with walking, devotees will also be able to reach Kedarnath Dham by helicopter,'" the officials said.

According to the state tourism department, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been given permission to accept online reservations for the benefit of devotees going to Kedarnath Dham by chopper.

In view of the upcoming Chardham Yatra, a total of 6.34 lakh devotees have registered, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council said earlier in March.

"As of today, over 6.34 lakh devotees have registered for the Char Dham Yatra. Of these, 2.41 lakh registrations have been done for Kedarnath Dham, 2.01 lakh for Badrinath Dham, 95,107 for Yamanotri, and 96,449 for Gangotri Dham," said the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council.

Chief Minister Dhami stated, "A health ATM will be set up for health screening during the Chardham Yatra. The devotees will benefit greatly from this resource in terms of convenience. This would be a positive move towards improving medical facilities along the Char Dham Yatra route."

Earlier on March 11, the Rudraprayag district government began planning for the Chardham Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on April 22.

Uttarakhand's Chardham Yatra is one of India's most famous Hindu pilgrimages.

This pilgrimage includes visits to four holy locations in the Himalayas: Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

The high-altitude shrines are closed for about six months of the year, opening in the summer (April or May) and closing with the arrival of winter (October or November).

The Chardham Yatra will kick off on April 22 with the inauguration of the Yamunotri and Gangotri temples. Both Kedarnath and Badrinath are scheduled to open on April 25, respectively.
