    Congress Flag Falls on Foundation Day as Sonia Gandhi Tries to Unfurl It

    New Delhi: During the 137th Foundation Day of Indian National Congress (INC), the party’s tricolor flag fell off the pole when its interim president Sonia Gandhi tried to host it here at AICC headquarters on Tuesday.





    A video has gone viral showing Sonia Gandhi clutching at the rope when party treasurer Pawan Bansal and KC Venugopal, in an attempt to help, give it a forceful jerk, bringing the flag down in Gandhi’s hands.





    Further, a Congress worker went up the post using a ladder to correctly thread the flag and hoisted it later.

    While addressing at the Foundation Day, Sonia Gandhi indirectly slamming the BJP said, “Divisive beliefs based on hatred and bigotry that had no place in our liberation movement are now wreaking havoc on our society’s secular fabric.”





    “They’re rewriting history in order to elevate themselves to a position they don’t deserve. Our parliamentary democracy’s best traditions are being purposefully harmed. These damaging influences will be combated by Congress.” she added.





    Earlier, in a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said that he was happy to be a member of the party that established India’s democracy.
