"BJP Mukt Dakshin Bharat": Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hits out at BJP after Karnataka win
Kharge slammed the BJP, stating that egoistic statements will no longer work and that people's hardships must be understood.

Digital Desk: Hitting out at the BJP, after the thumping victory of the Congress in the Karnataka Assembly elections, AICC president M Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said people who sought 'Congress Mukt Bharat' ended up confronting 'BJP Mukt Dakshin Bharat'.

Kharge slammed the BJP, stating that egoistic statements will no longer work and that people's hardships must be understood. "Those who wanted to make a 'Congress Mukt Bharat' (Congress-free India) spoke many things against us, but today one thing has come true, and that is 'BJP Mukt Dakshin Bharat' (BJP free South India)," Kharge remarked during a press conference.

Kharge cautioned the Congress leaders to work with humility and to stay grounded. He referred to the party's success in the May 10 elections as a 'people's victory,' rather than an individual one.

"We got such a landslide victory after 35 years." This is something we should keep in mind. "We won because we all won together, which would not have been possible otherwise," Kharge explained. He emphasised that the triumph was the consequence of teamwork.

"We won because we collaborated. We would have stayed in the same condition if we had been scattered," Kharge pointed out. The Congress party won Karnataka with a comfortable majority of 136 seats in the state Legislative Assembly, which has 224 members. On May 10, the state held elections, and the ballots were counted on Saturday, May 13.
