Digital Desk: Several wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia, were detained by Delhi Police on Sunday after they attempted to enter the new Parliament building, where a women's Mahapanchayat was scheduled for the day.

Reportedly, Vinesh Phogat, a two-time Commonwealth gold medalist, was detained by Delhi Police as she and her supporters marched towards Parliament to intensify their protest against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan. On Sunday, Khap Panchayats called for a Mahila Maha Panchayat in solidarity with wrestlers demonstrating against WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

To prevent any protest or gathering, Delhi Police sealed all of the national capital's borders.

Wrestler Sakshi Malik has also slammed the Central government after police detained demonstrators who planned to march to the new Parliament on Sunday, demanding the arrest of WFI leader Brij Bhushan. Security forces had been stationed across Delhi's borders and throughout the New Delhi area to prevent any protests during the new Parliament's opening ceremony.

In the present moment, wrestler Malik emphasised the absurdity of Indian democracy. "To all my international fraternity...," she tweeted. Our Prime Minister is inaugurating our new legislature...Our supporters, on the other hand, have been arrested for doing so." she wrote on Twitter.

Wrestlers and police officials shoved and pushed each other as Vinesh Phogat and her cousin sister Sangeeta Phogat attempted to break the barriers at Jantar Mantar.

Police captured all protesters and forced them onto buses. "They were detained for violating law and order." "We will take legal action after an investigation," stated Dependra Pathak, Special CP, Law and Order.

Police officers were also spotted clearing the protest site, where wrestlers had restarted their agitation against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on April 23.

Following protesting wrestlers' request for a 'Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat,' the Delhi Police increased security at Jantar Mantar.

The protesting wrestlers, who include Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi, as well as Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh, have called for the arrest of outgoing WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh, whom they allege of sexually abusing several female grapplers.

The wrestlers have stated that police use of force will not stop them from proceeding with their procession and the Mahapanchayat.
