    Credit Card Fraud: Free Thalis cost Mumbai man Rs. 3 lakh
    Digital Desk: You have heard the news of frauds often. This time its Credit Card fraud. Fraudsters tricked an older man from Mumbai in the name of providing three thalis for Rs. 100. However, the man lost Rs. 3lakh in this process.

    The 74-year-old man, ND Nand, fell for prey to the fraudsters. Nand stated that he was asked to make an advance payment of Rs. 10 using his credit card and then pay the outstanding amount upon cash on delivery. Unfortunately, this credit card fraud hacked the card, and the man lost around Rs 49,760.

    The credit card fraud took place on January 9, 2022. It happened when Nand was browsing his Facebook and came across an ad offering three thalis just for Rs.100. So naturally, Nand was tempted by the offer and contacted the number displayed on the ad.

    The complaint filed by Nand stated, "A person identifying himself as Deepak attended the call and asked me to provide him with my credit card details to place the order. He told me that Rs 10 would be initially deducted, and I had to pay Rs 90 in cash once the order was delivered. The person then asked me to convey the one-time password I received to complete the order."

    Nand recognized that he had been deceived directly after receiving two SMS alerts connected to the fraudulent transactions carried out from his credit card.

    Moreover, the police officer stated that they had asked the bank authorities to provide details of the account in which the money was transferred. 

    Additionally, the Khar police officials are trying to detect the details regarding the fraudster's location. As a result, a case has been filed under IPC and IT Act.
