Daily wage labourer who earns Rs 400 per day, gets income tax demand notice of Rs 14 crore
According to reports, Yadav had worked for private companies in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab before leaving for his Bihar home during the 2020 COVID lockdown.

Digital Desk: A worker in the Rohtas district of Bihar who works for a daily wage was shocked to receive a notice from the income tax department asking to pay Rs 14 crore in returns. Manoj Yadav, a worker in the Karghar police station area, makes Rs 400 a day. His family, as well as the neighbours are shocked after learning about the notice.

On Monday, a team from the Income Tax Department visited Manoj's home and gave him a letter informing him that companies were operating under his name and that returns totaling almost Rs 14 crore were still pending.

Authorities claimed that transactions worth crores of rupees were recorded in his bank records, making him liable for paying income tax.

However, Yadav told the officials that he was a daily wage worker and that even if he sold all of his property, he would not be able to pay the Rs 14 crore.

According to reports, Yadav had worked for private companies in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab before leaving for his Bihar home during the 2020 COVID lockdown.

Yadav has claimed that their former companies used his documents fraudulently to create fake bank accounts in his name and conduct transactions to avoid paying taxes. At the time of his employment, private companies made copies of his Aadhar and PAN cards, he claimed.
