Delhi Ex Minister Satyendar Jain's Health deteriorates, Fell in Jail Bathroom

According to the AAP, the former minister, who has lost nearly 35 kg since his imprisonment, suffers from sleep apnea and requires a BiPAP machine when sleeping.

    Digital Desk: Satyendar Jain, the
former Health Minister of Delhi, was hospitalized on Thursday after collapsing
in the toilet of Tihar Jail, where he has been jailed on money laundering
    accusations since last year.

Mr Jain had to be rushed
to the hospital for medical assistance for the second time in a week. According
to jail officials, he was evaluated at Safdarjung Hospital on Monday for a
spine injury acquired previously from another fall in the jail's toilet.

at the hospital with a belt fastened around his waist. According to the AAP,
the former minister, who has lost nearly 35 kg since his imprisonment, suffers
from sleep apnea and requires a BiPAP machine when sleeping.

    Before that, Mr Jain was
transported to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital on Saturday and subjected to a
battery of tests, including a CT scan and an MRI. According to hospital
sources, his condition was stable, but he was kept under observation.

slipped/fell down in the bathroom of MI Room of the hospital of CJ-7, where he
was kept under observation for general weakness," jail officials stated in
a statement. The physicians then examined him. Vital signs were normal. He was
then referred to DDU Hospital because he was experiencing pain in his back,
    left leg, and shoulder."

    Mr. Jain's colleagues
and fans have expressed concern about his health and accused the BJP, which
governs at the federal level and opposes the Aam Aadmi Party, of attempting to
    "kill him."

color:#2E2E2E">The BJP has replied to these charges by claiming that Mr. Jain
was overweight prior to his incarceration and that it is "good" that
he has dropped weight. Mr Jain's appearance, according to Delhi BJP leader
Vijendra Gupta, is a matter of how one handles their body, with the weight loss
attributed to eating only once a day, as per his religious views.

    Arvind Kejriwal, the
Delhi Chief Minister and founder of the Aam Aadmi Party, shared a photo on
Twitter of a frail-looking Mr Jain sitting in a hospital chair with two police
    officers close.

color:#2E2E2E">"I pray to God for his better health," Mr. Kejriwal
said in Hindi. "The people of Delhi are watching the BJP's arrogance and
atrocities." These oppressors will not be forgiven by God. The people are
with us in this struggle, and God is on our side. We are Bhagat Singh
supporters, and our fight against oppression, injustice, and dictatorship will
    continue."

    Mr Jain's counsel,
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, told the Supreme Court last week that the former
minister had lost 35 kilogrammes and is essentially a "skeleton"
suffering from a variety of diseases.

color:#2E2E2E">Mr Jain was arrested in May of last year by the Enforcement
Directorate, a federal body that probes financial crimes, for allegedly
laundering money through shell companies and purchasing land with unlawful
monies. Mr. Jain has refuted the allegations, claiming they are politically
    driven.

Mr. Jain was a key part
of Mr. Kejriwal's cabinet, holding positions in health, housing, and urban
development. While still imprisoned, he resigned from his ministerial posts in
    January of this year.
