    Despite family of 12, poll candidate receives only 1 vote; breaks down

    Gandhinagar: A poll candidate standing for the post of Sarpanch in the Gram Panchayat Polls in Gujarat Vapi’s district was shocked to see getting only one vote, despite having 12 members in his family.





    Feeling extremely embarrassed, the poll candidate broke down near the vote counting centre.





    The candidate, feeling pained after hearing that not even his family members voted for him and that the single vote was also voted by him, could not help but cry in front of the polling officials.

    The news soon went viral on social media followed by a trail of reactions from the social media users.





    The election results for the rural bodies in Gujarat were declared by Tuesday night. The State Election Commission had declared the results of 6,481 out of 8,686 village panchayats in the state.





    The elections were held for two days and no candidates stand on any particular party tickets, even though may be affiliated to political parties otherwise.

    Although the elections were conducted for the rural bodies, yet it was not free from any news of violence. A clash had broke out between the supporters of winning and defeated candidates at Hinglot village in Bharuch district, though the situation was brought under control by the security personnel posted at the voting centres.
