Digital Desk: Congress, under fire after millions of rupees were discovered in properties connected to its Rajya Sabha member Dheeraj Sahu, said on Saturday that the party had no commercial dealings with the former and demanded an explanation from the Jharkhand legislator.
Jairam Ramesh, the Congress General Secretary in charge of communications, said on social media that only Dheeraj Sahu could account for the enormous sums of money that had allegedly been discovered in his houses by income-tax officials.
"The Indian National Congress is in no way connected with the businesses of Dheeraj Sahu, MP. Only he can explain, and should explain, how huge amounts of cash have been reportedly unearthed by the income-tax authorities from his properties," the Congress leader wrote on X.
Over Rs 200 crore worth of cash was found in many places in Odisha and Jharkhand by Income Tax investigators during searches on Boudh Distilleries Private Limited (BDPL) and its associated businesses.
Also searched were the homes of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu.

Questioning the establishment, Union Minister Smriti Irani stated that the Gandhi family has to reveal to the nation which Congress leader, the Rajya Sabha MP, was employed as a "ATM."
"They are currently calculating the Rs 200 crore that was found on their party MP Dheeraj Prasad Sahu's property. Mohabbat Ki Dukaan Mein Corruption Ka Karobaar Chal Raha Hai (The show Mohabbat Ki Dukaan is a business of corruption). She stated this to ANI on Friday. "The Congress high command, (meaning) the Gandhi family, will have to tell the country that for which Congress leader of the Gandhi family he was working as an ATM."
On his X account earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi poked fun at the opposition party by tagging a news story about the Income Tax authorities finding Rs 200 crore in cash from many locations of a business firm purportedly associated with Sahu.
"Countrymen should look at these piles of currency notes and then hear the addresses of its (Congress) leaders on honesty. Every penny looted from people will have to be returned. This is Modi's guarantee," PM Modi said in a post with several emojis.
