Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday took an indirect dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi once more over his educational background and fired back at BJP leader Harish Khurana for criticising the AAP government's efforts in the national capital's education sector.
Kejriwal taking
Twitter wrote in Hindi, "If some students struggle academically, we will set up extra classes for them. In the future, one of them will become the Prime Minister of India. We don't want anyone to become Prime Minister with a fake degree.
Hours after Khurana shared a few student mark sheets from government schools on Twitter, the
Delhi chief minister responded. He claimed that every year, over one lakh students fail in Class 9.
"Just look at the reality of Delhi's government schools. The reformation of education under Arvind Kejriwal. Some students received three out of 80, while others received nine. More than lakh students fail Class 9 each year. And he claims to have started an educational revolution. That is amazing " Khurana twitted in Hindi.
This is not the first time the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made fun of the prime minister's educational background. On a recent trip to Assam, Kejriwal questioned PM Modi's qualifications, claiming that "had PM Modi been educated, he would not have called for demonetisation, and also wouldn't have brought the farm rules that were subsequently repealed."
The Gujarat High Court fined Arvind Kejriwal Rs 25,000 on March 31 for violating the Chief Information Commissioner's (CIC) 2016 decision for Gujarat University to reveal PM Modi's graduate and post-graduate degrees to the
AAP leader. Since then, the BJP and AAP have engaged in a verbal battle over the issue.
Even the former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, recently questioned PM Modi's educational qualifications in a letter from Tihar Prison. Sisodia took a jab at PM Modi in the letter by claiming that India needs an educated Prime Minister "for the country to progress," a copy of which was shared on Twitter on Friday by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
It may be mentioned that Sisodia is currently in jail in connection with a money laundering case involving the Delhi Excise Policy.
