Egra Blast Case: 2 arrested by WB CID authorities; FIR filed against Ex-Member of TMC's panchayat

Digital Desk: In the Egra bomb case, where nine persons were murdered and nine more were injured on Tuesday, a squad of West Bengal CID officials detained two suspects on Wednesday. The proprietor of the plant, Bhanu Bag, was named as the main suspect in an FIR registered, according to officials.

Sources claim that Bhanu Bag, a former Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat member, was seen at the accident scene shortly prior to the explosion. Local sources claimed that Bhanu escaped the scene of the explosion on a motorbike and was riding towards Odisha.

On Tuesday, an illegal firework factory in the East Midnapore region of West Bengal was reported to have experienced an explosion. Nine of the injured victims passed away dead at the hospital, but nine others are still receiving care. 

Later on Tuesday, the CID took over the investigation, and the West Bengali government declared a payout of Rs 2.5 lakh for the departed's family.

The firecracker factory was raided last month, and the proprietor was charged. Despite the crackdown, the factory remained operational, according to police sources.

Furthermore, today Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari will visit the accident site. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee acknowledged on Tuesday that the factory's owner had previously been arrested for unlawful business but had resumed it after being granted parole.
