    On January 26, the 68-year-old powerful Arab leader will attend Republic Day festivities. A high-level delegation led by five ministers and other senior officials will accompany Sisi.

    Digital Desk: Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to attend the Republic Day parade as the chief guest.
    He will attend several meetings for his three-day visit to strengthen bilateral ties in many sectors, including commerce, agriculture, and the digital realm.

    On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Sisi will have extensive discussions. Several agreements to strengthen ties in some areas are anticipated to be signed by the two parties after the talks, according to persons with knowledge of the situation.

    The Egyptian president visited India in September 2016 after travelling there in October 2015 to attend the third India-Africa Forum Summit.

    For the first time, the President of Egypt has been asked to attend India's Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest. Taking part in the Republic Day parade will be a military unit from the Egyptian Army.

    In preparation for his discussions with Modi, Sisi will get a formal welcome on Wednesday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Sisi will also be visited by S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs.

    The time-tested alliance between India and Egypt is expected to be further strengthened and deepened by President Sisi's upcoming visit, according to a statement released on Saturday by the Ministry of External Affairs.

    India is keen to strengthen its ties with Egypt, a significant participant in the politics of both the Arab and African worlds. It is also seen as a significant entryway to markets in Africa and Europe.

    The MEA stated that the complex relationship between the two nations is built on shared cultural values, a commitment to promote economic growth, cooperation in the domains of defense and security, and agreement on regional and global concerns.

    In recent years, there has been an increase in the two countries' bilateral commerce. According to the MEA, commerce between Egypt and India reached a "historic high" of USD 7.26 billion in 2021–22.
     
    The Egyptian economy is comprised of several different sectors, including chemicals, energy, textile, apparel, agribusiness, and retail, in which more than 50 Indian firms have made investments totaling about 3.15 billion dollars.
