Digital Desk: Sadananda Gowda, former Karnataka Chief Minister and prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader announced his retirement from electoral politics on Wednesday at a news conference in Hassan.

"I have decided not to run for office again. The party has given me everything in my 30 years in politics. I was an MLA for ten years, an MP for twenty years, a Chief Minister for one year, a state party president for four years, and a cabinet minister for seven years in the Narendra Modi government. I would be labelled selfish if I aspired for more," he explained.

With this, the former Union Minister, who was also the BJP state president, vacated the Bangalore North constituency, which he had won in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

He informed reporters that he got all of the benefits from the party and had no further ambitions.
