Digital Desk: On Friday, a major emergency was declared at the Thiruvananthapuram airport in Kerala to ensure the safe arrival of an Air India Express flight that had departed from Kozhikode. A tail strike after takeoff from Kozhikode caused an emergency to be called after an Air India Express flight with a destination of Dammam.

Due to a suspected tail strike, Air India Express flight IX 385 on the Kozhikode-Dammam route was diverted to the Thiruvananthapuram airport. There were 168 passengers on the trip. Finally, the plane performed a "typical safe landing." All passengers departed the aircraft without incident. There is a video of the emergency landing:

"We are arranging for the passengers to be transported to Dammam by a substitute flight, which is scheduled to depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.30 PM today, "the statement added.

The incident happened shortly after the same airline's Kozhikode-bound flight from Abu Dhabi was forced to make a U-turn and land at the Abu Dhabi airport on February 4 due to an engine fire that was discovered shortly after takeoff.

On January 23, an Air India Express flight flying from Trivandrum to Muscat reported a problem with its flight management system (FMS) and had to return to the ground 45 minutes after departure.
