Digital Desk: Many attention-grabbing and attractive sadhus and Naga babas are attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Among them Mahamandaleshwar Narayanand Giri Maharaj, also called as  ‘Golden Baba,’ from the Niranjani Akhada, is turning heads. He adorns 6.410 kilograms of jewelry on his body. A well-known figure in Hindu religious circles, from Kerala he said, the ornaments are used in worship of gods such as Nataraj, Narasimha, Murugan and Bhadrakali. Other items found in this collection are Rudraksha, Coral, Crystals, Moonga, and some of the gems like Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald used in his puja. Among the ornaments is the Shri Yantra symbol, which he believes enhances energy, not only to himself, but also to people around him.

Swami Narayanand said that he has been wearing such jewelry for the past 15 years with that being his father’s tradition. So if I was in trousers and a shirt, you wouldn’t have come near me. In his statement, he said that God has given him the ability to pass on positive energy and vibes. He stated that the ornaments are related to devotion and add to his spirituality.

On Makar Sankranti, devotees bathed in the Triveni Sangam for the first dip also known as the Amrit Snan.
