Digital Desk: Goa will witness a very rare appearance of the Sturgeon Super Blue Moon on the evening of August 31, 2023.
The uniqueness of this event is that there have been three Supermoons this year, three in a row in July and August. The last of the sequence of Supermoons of 2023 will also be the biggest, brightest, and most exciting full Moon of the year. August has two full Supermoons in the same calendar month.
Due to the fact that the Supermoon will be seen close to the star Altair, also known as Shravan Nakshatra in the constellation of Aquila, this month has been given the name Shravan in the Indian calendar.

The observation session will be held at Vidhya Prabhodini High School in Porvorim and the Public Astronomical Observatory in Panjim for North Goa aficionados. At 7.30 pm, a special programme on the dynamics of the phenomenon will be presented at the Panjim observatory.
The observation for South Goa will take place in Margao at the Ravindra Bhavan. The programme will be accessible to everyone at all 3 locations on August 31, 2023, from 7 pm to 9 pm.
