Digital Desk: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has asked the Indian airlines and airports in the nation to play Indian music on the premises. Government has written a letter following a request from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) earlier this week.
Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, wrote, "It is requested to kindly consider playing Indian music in the aircraft being operated in India and at airports following the regulatory requisites."

The letter read, "Indian music contains multiple genres in numerous varieties and forms, including classical music, folk, light vocal, instrumental."
ICCR President, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, handed over a note to Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia. The President handed over the letter in a meeting in the presence of several artists and musicians in a meet.
Prominent artists and singers, including Malini Awasthi, Anu Malik, Kaushal S Inamdar, Shounak Abhisheki. The list also included Manjusha Patil K, Sanjeev Abhyankar, Rita Ganguly and Wasifuddin Dagar, were also present during the meeting.
The letter honed out, "It is quite painful that most airlines in India, both private and government-held, and both domestic and international, rarely, if at all, play Indian tune. Our music reflects our rich roots and culture. It is one of the many things every Indian has a cause to be proud of."
