Hyderabad woman starves on US street; her mother appeals to S Jaishankar for help
She stated that Mohammed Minhaj Akhter could help find her daughter…

Digital Desk: A Hyderabad woman who traveled to the United States for a master's degree was spotted hungry on the streets of Chicago after her belongings were reportedly stolen. Syeda Wahaj Fatima, the mother of Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, has written to S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, pleading with him to step in and help her bring her daughter back to India.

After Khaleequr Rahaman, the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, posted the letter on his Twitter account, it became public on social media. He also posted a video in which a hungry Minhaj expresses her gratitude to a man for bringing her food.

In the letter, the mother described her daughter’s ordeal: "Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, a resident of Maula Ali in Telangana, pursued her master's degree at TRINE University in Detroit in August 2021 and kept in touch with us frequently while she was away. But she hasn't contacted me in two months, and recently, we heard through two Hyderabadi youths that my daughter is depressed and that someone stole her belongings, leaving her to starve to death. My daughter was spotted on the roads of Chicago in the USA."

Requesting the Indian Consulate in Chicago and the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, to intervene to bring her daughter back. She stated that Mohammed Minhaj Akhter can help find her daughter.
