Identifying herself as the “Gopi of Krishna”, Hema Malini stated that she believed Lord Krishna will shower his blessings on her if she served the “Brijwasis” with sincerity.
Digital Desk: Actress-turned-politician Hema Malini, who is contesting for the third time in the Lok Sabha election from Mathura as a BJP candidate, stated on Wednesday that she considers herself as a 'gopi' of Lord Krishna.
"I didn't enter politics for fame or name. The MP from Mathura told reporters, "I also didn't enter politics for any materialistic gain."
Identifying herself as the “Gopi of Krishna”, Hema Malini stated that she believed Lord Krishna would only shower his blessings on her if she served the “Brijwasis” with sincerity.
She said, "And as a result, I am serving the Brijwasis."
She thanked BJP president J P Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing her to serve the Brijwasis from Mathura for the third time.
She declared that her top objective will be to develop "Braj 84 Kos Parikrama," which is currently in poor condition.
Hema Malini, a two-term MP from Mathura, stated, "Efforts will be made to turn Braj 84 Kos Parikrama soothing, alluring, and fascinating for the tourists."
She claimed that after her appeal, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari graciously gave it some thought and approved an allocation of Rs 5,000 crore for the refurbishment of Braj 84 Kos Parikrama.
"As the DPR (detailed project report) for it has been prepared for Rs 11,000 crore, I will get the remaining amount sanctioned for an ideal infrastructure so that it turns attractive and mesmerizing for the international tourists and provides the necessary facilities for the pilgrims," she stated.
According to her, tourism will provide residents with more job opportunities.
Working to clean the Yamuna River will be her second priority, she said.
Prior to the commencement of the Namami Gange project, Hema Malini asserted that she had asked a question in Parliament over the contamination of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
She stated that the Ganga water in Prayagraj has turned transparent and pollution-free after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi showed interest in the Namami Gange project. However, she claimed that the Delhi administration showed no interest in addressing the Yamuna River's pollution issue, and the sacred river in Mathura is still contaminated.
The Mathura MP claims that the idea of a clean Yamuna in Mathura cannot come true unless the Yamunas in Delhi and Haryana are cleaned.
Hema Malini added that the Yamuna is now used by Delhi and Haryana and that both states' drain water is dumped into it. She also promised to work tirelessly to keep the Yamuna clean.
She thanked Yogi and added that when he saw how important it was for Mathura to develop, he created the UP Braj Tirth Vikas Parishad at her request. It includes Govardhan Parikrama, Raskhan Samadhi, Sur (Surdas') Sadhana Sthali at Parasauli, and Sant Gram, a village for the saints in Vrindavan.
Numerous projects have been completed, such as the restoration of Govardhan Parikrama, Sur Sadhana Sthali, and Raskhan Samadhi. She stated that although work on other projects is ongoing, it is moving slowly because of encroachments.
Hema Malini also expressed her gratitude to Yogi for granting her request to have Vrindavan, Barsana, Nandgaon, Govardhan, Gokul, Mathura, and Baldeo recognized as "teerth sthals" (pilgrimages).
Her other top priorities include building a double-line rail track between Mathura and Kasganj, connecting the holy city of Vrindavan with Aligarh, replacing hard potable water with Ganga river water, and establishing a central university, which will eventually help youths succeed in competitive exams.
